| Main purpose of the Job
The Connect division centred in Cape Town currently has a vacancy for a Portal Manager who, reporting to the Head of Sales will be responsible and accountable for portal strategy: to transform the portal into a sales acquisition channel, and to ensure a consistent and high quality online experience for customers that access online services. The Portal Manager will be involved in designing and building new portals for one of SAs leading brands. New cutting-edge mobile portal development in addition to utilizing the latest WEB 2.0 technologies.
Job Outputs
Define and Implement a portal strategy with focus on sales and acquisition of new customers.
Design and implement a strategy for efficient, effective and usable online customer self-help tools for existing customers.
Maintain and enhance existing websites and applications.
Manage 3rd party contracts and SLAs for content delivered via the portal
Manage a team of developers, content editors and graphic artists.
Take ownership of the online presence in all aspects
Manage portal development projects, timelines and deliverables
Manage the implementation and support of Content Management Systems as part of the Portal infrastructure
Ensure high availability of the Portal environment through the implementation and application of release management processes and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
1. A relevant tertiary qualification is preferable.
2. Knowledge of Microsoft web development technologies, specifically ASP .Net 1.1/2.0 using Microsoft C# and VB.NET is required.
3. Knowledge of Content Management Systems, specifically the DotNetNuke OpenSource CMS is required.
4. Knowledge of Web 2.0 methodologies
5. Expert knowledge of HTML and Javascript.
6. Artistic/design skills is required
7. Willingness to learn new technologies.
8. At least 4 years Project management (team lead) experience is required
